Richard H. Marsh
Overview
Mr. Marsh joined Ohio Edison -- which merged in 1997 with Centerior Energy to form FirstEnergy -- in 1980 and has served in a number of positions in the financial area. He was elected treasurer in 1991, vice president of Finance in 1997 and vice president and CFO in 1998. He was named to his current position in 2001, through which he is responsible for the accounting, auditing, benefit investment, investor relations, performance planning, rates, enterprise risk management, and treasury functions. Mr. Marsh received his bachelor of arts degree from Kent State University, a master of arts in clinical psychology and a master of business administration from The University of Akron. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a Certificate in Management Accounting. Mr. Marsh is chairman of the Utility Pension Fund Study Group and a member of the Cleveland Society of Security Analysts and the Finance Advisory Committee of the Edison Electric Institute. He is past president of United Disability Services in Akron and Family Services of Summit County. He is a member of the Advancement Council of the College of Business Administration and vice president of the Alumni Council at the University of Akron, chair of the Endowment Committee for the Western Reserve Girl Scout Council, a trustee of the FirstEnergy Foundation, a trustee of H. M. Life Opportunity Services, and a member of the advisory committee for the Master of Science in Financial Engineering program at Kent State University.
