Overview
Michael (Mike) Thieneman was named executive vice president and chief technology officer of Whirlpool Corporation in June 2000. Thieneman joined Whirlpool in 1977 as a project engineer. He has served as president and chief executive officer of Inglis Limited, Whirlpool's wholly owned Canadian subsidiary; as president of Whirlpool Compressor Operations in Riva di Chieri, Italy; and as corporate vice president, global procurement operations. In October 1997 he was named executive vice president, North American Region. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Thieneman earned a B.A. degree in physics from Bellarmine College in 1970 followed by an M.S. and Ph.D. in physics from the University of Kentucky in 1977. He also earned an M.B.A. from the University of Evansville in 1981.
