Overview

John E. McDermott is chief information officer for Xerox Corporation, a position he assumed in January 2007. He is also a vice president of the corporation, appointed in February 2004. As CIO, McDermott leads a worldwide team of information technology professionals and business partners who deliver information technology solutions and enablement of Xerox's business processes. McDermott joined Xerox in 2002 as vice president, corporate strategy, alliances and business development. He was responsible for developing corporate strategy and leading the company's strategic management processes. McDermott was engaged in corporate development activities, including the Xerox's recent acquisitions of Global Imaging, Amici and XMPie. In addition, he led the company's relationship with many information technology alliance partners. McDermott also managed the company's strategy and investment in the Fuji Xerox Company, Xerox's joint venture in Asia Pacific with Fuji Film. Prior to joining Xerox, McDermott was a partner at Marakon Associates, a management consulting firm, where he provided Fortune 500 clients with support on business strategy, operations improvement and organizational design, primarily in the technology and telecommunications industries. In addition to his consulting responsibilities McDermott was also CIO at Marakon. McDermott earned his MBA at Yale University School of Management and his BA degree from Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass.
