Overview
Mr. Thain is chief executive officer of NYSE Euronext. He was a director of NYSE Group since June 2005, and was its chief executive officer from December 2005. Mr. Thain joined the NYSE in January 2004, serving as chief executive officer and a director. Previously, Mr. Thain was with The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. where he served as president and co-chief operating officer from May 1999 to June 2003, and as president and chief operating officer from July 2003 to January 2004. He was a member of The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. Board of Directors from 1998 to 2003. On November 14, 2007, NYSE Euronext announced the resignation of John Thain, Chief Executive Office.
