Robert Sanders Williams, M.D., Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Duke University Medical Center since 2007 and Dean of Duke University School of Medicine from 2001 to 2007. Dr. Williams joined the Duke faculty in 1980 as an assistant professor of medicine, physiology and cell biology. Dr. Williams is a Director of Laboratory Corporation of America, and is a Consultant to Phrixus, Inc. He has served recently on the Director's Advisory Committee of the National Institutes of Health and the Board of External Advisors to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. He is also a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
