Domenico De Sole was born in Rome in 1944. Mr. De Sole has been a Director of Telecom Italia since May 6, 2004. In 1970 he moved to the United States, where he became a partner with the law firm of Patton, Boggs & Blow. In 1984 he joined the Gucci group as Managing Director of Gucci America Inc. and in 1995 he became Managing Director for the entire Gucci group as President and Managing Director of Gucci group N.V. until April 2004. During this period Gucci group was listed on the New York and Amsterdam stock exchanges (1995), beat off a hostile takeover bid (1999), acquired Yves Saint Laurent, Sanofi Beautee and Sergio Rossi in 1999, Boucheron, Alexander McQueen and Bedat & Co in 2000 and Bottega Veneta, Stella McCartney and Balenciaga in 2001. Mr. De Sole is a Director of Delta Airlines (member of Finance and Governance Committees), of Bausch & Lomb (member of the Audit Committee), Gap Inc. (member of the Audit Committee) and Ermenegildo Zegna S.p.A.. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Harvard Law School.
