Christian Lajoux has a degree (DEUG) in psychology, a bachelor degree (maitrise) in philosophy and a post-graduate degree (DESS) in personnel management from the Institut d'Administration des Entreprises (IAE Paris). He served in a variety of positions at Sandoz, including Division Director, before joining Sanofi Winthrop in 1993. He then served in various positions, including Director of Operations and Managing Director of Sanofi Winthrop France, before being appointed Senior Vice President France just prior to the merger with Synthelabo in 1999. He served in that position until being named as Senior Vice President Europe in January 2003, and then as Senior Vice President Pharmaceutical Operations France in August 2004. He was appointed as Chairman of Leem (Les entreprises du medicament) in July 2006.
