A graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and a Mining Engineer, Mr. Collomb held a number of positions within the Ministry of Industry and other staff positions from 1966 to 1975. He joined the Lafarge group in 1975, where he served in various management positions. He served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lafarge from 1989 to 2003, then as Chairman of the Lafarge Board of Directors. He is also President of the French association of private-sector companies (AFEP).
