Mitchell H. Caplan
Overview
Mitchell H. Caplan has been the Chief Executive Officer and a director of the Company since January 2003. He is also the Chairman of the Board of ETB Holdings, Inc. (the holding company for E*TRADE Bank) and E*TRADE Bank. Mr. Caplan previously served as Vice Chairman of the board of directors, President and Chief Executive Officer of Telebanc Financial Corporation and Telebank, a federally chartered savings bank, which were acquired by the Company in January of 2000. Mr. Caplan received a bachelor of arts degree from Brandeis University and a juris doctorate and a master of business administration degree from Emory University. Mr. Caplan is not a member of any of the committees of the Board. On November 29, 2007, the Company announced that Mitchell H. Caplan has stepped down from his position as Chief Executive Officer of the Company as of November 28. At that time, the Company also announced that Mr. Caplan will remain with the Company in an advisory capacity and will remain a member of the Board of Directors.
