Town and Country School
Overview
Town & Country School , a 501(c)(3) organization, was established in 1961 as a Kindergarten through eighth grade program by child psychologist, Dr. Lillian Whitmore and a group of parents of children with learning disabilities. Forty-six years later, T&C continues to be Oklahoma s only accredited, non-public, full day K-12 program specifically designed to meet the needs of this special population. The school is located on a 10-acre, wooded lot that houses the entire campus complete with administrative buildings, a large gymnasium, playground equipment, and separate buildings for both Upper and Lower School. In 1984, Town & Country broadened the scope of its program and began serving both students with Learning Disabilities as well as those diagnosed with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. In 1986, a supplemental after-school program was established to provide tutoring and speech/language therapy. These programs are available to all Tulsa area students, both public and private, who struggle with learning. Town & Country became a Kindergarten through 12th grade program in 1999 and graduated its first class in May 2000. Students are placed in classrooms with one teacher and one assistant and a maximum of 12 students per class. Total enrollment averages 125 students.
