Silverwood School

Each of our state-certified academic teachers, as well as our specialists, aides and volunteers, brings enthusiasm and expertise to the curriculum, creating a rich academic program and a learning community that is both stimulating and fun. Our program includes reading, creative and expository writing, math, cultural and social studies, science, Spanish, art, music, and physical education. Continuing to honor our Montessori-inspired* roots, we value experiential, self-directed, and small group learning. Silverwood's low student/teacher ratios provide a focused and personal educational environment for each child. Other resources include an art and ceramics studio with kiln, a campus-wide computer network and high-speed internet access. Our three computer labs include 41 student PCs with printers, scanners and digital cameras funded by the Gates Foundation and supportive parents. At Silverwood, technology is an important tool that supports the curriculum rather than being an end in itself.
