We verify and publish basic background information relating to a contractor's business. We verify things like: - How long they have been in business - We verify that they have been in business as long as they say they have - That they have not changed their name to run from problems - That they have the required state registration - That they comply with any state licensing requirements for their trade We report on things like: - Unpaid legal judgments over the last five years - Excessive amount of legal filings against them in the last two years - Do they respond to customer complaints filed against them - Do they have positive vendor relationships - How much general liability insurance coverage do they have - How much worker's compensation insurance do they have This is information that will provide an indication of a contractor's legitimacy for a customer before they decide who to hire. It is information that can be obtained by anyone if they have the time and resources. In fact, the attorney general's office and most local governments provide lists of things for homeowners to check on for every contractor that they hire, although very few do.
