Overview
Founded in Burien in 1960 as the Highline Symphony, the orchestra moved to Federal Way in 1985. The orchestra performed as the Federal Way Philharmonic for 14 years until 1999 when it was decided to adopt a new name to springboard the orchestra artistically into the 21st century. The Federal Way Symphony Orchestra remains committed to bringing the finest classical music to residents of the South Puget Sound region. A fully paid orchestra comprised of about 60 musicians, the Symphony made regional impact with a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in the Seattle Opera House to open the Goodwill Games. Under the direction of A. Brian Davenport, the Symphony performs at St Luke's Church in the heart of Federal Way.
