On May 14, 2007, Chrysler announced that Cerberus Capital Management, a private equity firm, will take over an 80.1 percent equity position in Chrysler and its related financial services business, with Daimler retaining the remaining 19.9 percent. The new partnership between Cerberus Capital Management and Chrysler LLC creates the right combination of financial support, operational expertise and industry know-how to re-establish Chrysler as a stand-alone industry leader.
