Audience, LLC

Audience was formed in November of 1997 as a design and production company focused on building the best possible audio and video equipment. To pass the Audience test, each product must truly make a significant contribution to the reproduction of audio and/or video. Over the years, Audience has been known for making cables, optical disk resolution enhancement (the Auric Illuminator) and high resolution capacitors. We have more recently begun producing power conditioners. Audience was co-founded by John McDonald and the late Richard Smith. Like most people in the high-end AV market, John McDonald was attracted to the industry by the music. Although he describes himself as more of a businessman than an audiophile, John believes music is one of the biggest connections between people. John became involved in the business by knowing people who had a talent for designing products that sounded very natural to his ear. Between late co-founder Richard Smith and current electronics engineer, Roger Sheker, Audience brings approximately 60 years of design experience to the Audiophile community. Neither of these two distinguished gentlemen had formal engineering training. However, both are considered to be "out-of-the-box" thinkers, which is clearly reflected in the uniqueness of all Audience products.
