Armstrong Machine Company, Inc

Armstrong Machine Co. Inc. was started in 1974 in Armstrong, Iowa, by Clifford and sharon Porter. Cliff was in the Well Drilling and Pump Repairs service, Sharon was the High School Principal Secretary and also did the book work for the Well Drilling Business. The company was started with one employee, whom shipped the parts from a little shed near by the Porter's home. The company was moved to Pocahontas, Iowa in 1977 when Cliff sold his Well Drilling business in Armstrong because of health problems and the family relocated to Pocahontas, Iowa. The company was then run out of the Porters home and the shop was the garage to their home. Very soon a building was put up to house the company and the first manual lathe had been purchased, in 1988 an additional building was put up to house the growing company. Within a few years the company had out grown this facility also, so they purchased property adjacent to there existing property and put up an additional building in which the mud pump repair department and the steel tubing were moved into this new building. In 2002 a building was put up to house the new Heat-treating facility and the stock tubing. The company is now run by Clifford Porter and his daughters, Michelle Ames and Roberta Reese. The company now employees 30 people. We hope to continue to grow and serve our customers.
