Plans for iPhone Minutes Unveiled

Apple and its exclusive wireless partner, AT&T, announce pricing plans for the much anticipated iPhone.

We now know just how much the forthcoming iPhone will dent your pocketbook.

AT&T and Apple announced the pricing for the phone's various calling plans today. Customers can pay as little as $59.99 a month for 450 minutes of cellular time or as much as $99.99 a month for 1,350 minutes. The middle plan costs $79.99 a month and includes 900 minutes. There are also family plans and alternatives for existing AT&T customers.

All plans include unlimited data services, 200 text messages, and rollover minutes. There is also a $36 activation fee.

Customers will be able to choose their calling plan when the iPhone goes on sale at 6 p.m. this Friday. The device itself will set them back between $499 and $599, depending on how much storage they want.

The two companies also announced that iPhone users will be able to activate their phones through their iTunes software. The phone will sync with files stored on computers in much the same way that the iPod does.
