Hotel Chevalier
Wes Anderson's 13-minute short was made to accompany his film The Darjeeling Limited. Chevalier was offered free on iTunes and, thanks to Natalie Portman's nude scene, upstaged the film.

Quarterlife
The series, which launched on MySpace and a dedicated website, found itself online by default after the pilot wasn't picked up by ABC. But once the show began in 2007, NBC bought it.
